Auntie Vern .. We love and miss you very much. Your little messess....
A poem Vern shared with me, ''when I told her I was going to start back to college to be a teacher'' by my other ''Mother'' the sister that took me when Momma had to go to work took me as her little baby. My sister Mary Ann took my sister a year older than myself as her little baby.

I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched two sculptors there.
The clay they used was a young child's mind and they fashioned it with care.
One was a Teacher--the tools he used were books, music and art.
The other, a Parent, worked with a guiding hand and a gentle, loving heart.
Day after day, the Teacher toiled with a touch that was careful, deft and sure.
While the Parent labored by his side and polished and smoothed it o'ver.
And when at last their task was done they were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had molded into the child could neither be sold nor bought.
And each agreed they would have failed if each had work alone.
For behind the Parent stood the school and behind the Teacher, the home.
My other momma, my loving sister, my neighbor and my friend gone but I will never for get our walking each other half way home. Sometime I walk halfway to your house just to feel your presence walking back. I miss you and will always love you but we know that God loves you best.
We will never forget times of your interest of always wanting to get together and to want to know everything of what was going on with all your sisters and brothers, in-laws , their children and children and last but not least your cuzins as well. We miss the sharing of family information from Miami to California...And especially providing the ox-tails, red velvet cake and PEACH COBBLER. As well as providing us with the faith and how to remain strong in the midst of all the storms... sickness and in health. Your will lives on in each of us. I miss you dearly. And especially when I spend the night at mommas the phone calls that came from you around 7am each morning. You shared a special relationship with each of us.
Rest Peacefully sis.
